Fake

Inside I might be crying,
as I laugh at what you say.
You might not understand
the confidence you take away.
Outside I might be smiling,
grinning with all my might.
But I may go home and sit in bed,
crying through the night.
"It's a-okay" could be the words
of someone lost and lonely.
"I'm great" was never seen to me
as something oh-so phony.
But it's all fine, they tell you so.
So don't go home and cry.
Just remember outside
is the layer of all lies.
